While Christianity has had a long legacy in many places around the world, there are still regions where it is brand new. For many, they are the first generation of Christians and don’t have anyone to guide them in their new faith.
In Mongolia, only 2% of the population is Christian, and these are all new Christians. They came to faith only in the last 20 years or so, after the fall of communism. This means they don’t really have a model of what faith in Jesus looks like.
Oktai, one of our listeners in Mongolia, sent us this message:
“I am one of first Christian people in Mongolia after communist regime. Christianity in Mongolia is very young. That’s why I listen to your radio station and to the Guidelines program. Also our young generation in Christ needs to improve and increase through the Word and Spirit much more. When I hear your programming, I am always encouraged and supported. Thank you.”
Mongolia is a vast country with many people living in small tent communities spread out in very remote places. It would be impossible to reach all of them if it weren’t for radio. With our radio stations in Mongolia, we can help build up this new generation of Christians in their own language, right where they are.
Our devotionals also help new generations of Christians to learn how to live out their faith, since they don’t have examples to look to. When their lives start changing, people around them notice.
In Kyrgyzstan, where 86% of the population is Muslim and Christians are a small minority, those who follow Jesus experience a noticeable life transformation.
We received this message from Aibeleck, a listener to our radio station in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan:
“Through your broadcast I have learned to control myself. I am not as judgmental as I was before. People around me are wondering what has happened to me and my changes for the better. It feels good. Thank you for your great broadcast.”
As people begin to follow Jesus in Kygrzystan, our radio broadcasts help guide them in their new faith so they live a life that influences the people around them.
