Tea, some sandwiches or borscht and the Word of God, are freely shared with those suffering in the war zone of Donetsk, Ukraine by Pastor Alex Moseychuk, his wife, Sveta, and the body of New Life Church. Life has only become increasingly oppressive under Russian occupation. Pastor Alex’s life has been threatened many times but he and Sveta will not leave. The Moseychuks recently sent their two sons to live in safety outside Eastern Ukraine, but they insist on staying with the community they have pastored since 2004.
While the Guidelines Ministry Team was in Ukraine, we were able to bring Pastor Alex and Sveta from the war zone to Kiev for a few days of rest. Pastor Alex updated us on current conditions in the Donetsk area:
“The situation in our area is very difficult because almost everything is destroyed. There is no economy, no state, no future. People live without hope because they cannot find a job and they don’t have money to buy something so they come to our church because they are looking for bread. We try to give them bread and other food to survive.”
“Because of this ministry, we have people who repent before God, who accept Jesus Christ into their hearts. People are being baptized who have never before heard about Jesus Christ. Our church is now full of people and all of them need Jesus Christ. They are looking for bread and they are looking for God. More than 600 new people have come to our church in the last three years and every one has heard the Gospel.”
Alex says: “I want to tell every one of you who has supported our ministry, we are very thankful for your support. Because of your help, we are still alive and we can continue our ministry!”
