When You’re Just Tired
He remembers us in our weakness. His faithful love endures forever. Psalms 136:23
God uses ordinary people who get tired, scared, burned out and even those who quit. If you’re in one of those categories today, there’s encouraging news for you.
In the Old Testament of the Bible, God had a prophet named Elijah. More than once, God showed His incredible might through Elijah; Elijah called down fire from heaven and God answered! (1 Kings 18:38, 2 Kings 1:12) But even after being a part of spectacular acts of God, Elijah experienced total exhaustion. He was scared and he wanted to quit.
One of the most incredible things about God, the Creator of the Universe, is that He knows us inside and out. The Psalms say, “He remembers us in our weakness” (Psalms 136:23). ” Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted;” says Isaiah 40:30 (ESV). When we’re exhausted, scared that we’re not up to the task or burned out, God isn’t surprised, unpleased, or uncaring.
There’s also hope in these two scriptures. Psalms says, “Yes, He remembers us in our weakness” and “His faithful love endures forever” (Psalm 136:23). Even young people get burned out, Isaiah acknowledges, “But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up [or soar] with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31 ESV).
