When God was giving instructions to Moses, He knew his people would sooner or later go to war against an enemy stronger than they were. So, here’s what God told Moses,

When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, because the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you.

 

When you are about to go into battle, the priest shall come forward and address the army. He shall say:

“Hear, O Israel, today you are going into battle against your enemies. Do not be fainthearted or afraid; do not be terrified or give way to panic before them. For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory” (Deuteronomy 20:1-4 NIV).

God told Moses four encouraging facts when they faced an army greater than they were—facts that will help you too.

When your problem is bigger than you are,

1. You may experience fear, even panic. That’s to be expected, so don’t let fear stop you dead in your tracks.

When your problem is bigger than you are,

2. You should recognize you don’t have the resources to win. Face it: the army coming to fight against you has more horses, more chariots and more soldiers than you do.

When your problem is bigger than you are, remember that

3. God promises to go with you to the battle.

And, last, when your problem is bigger than you are:

4. Remember He has rescued you before, and He promises “to give you the victory” (Deuteronomy 20:4) this time as well.

As Romans 8:31 says, “If God is for us, who can be against us?”
