This Is The Name That Changes Everything

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. John 14:6

I will never forget the day I was sitting in the bleachers at my son’s lacrosse game, chatting with several of the parents.  I’d become friends with one of the moms, who was Jewish.  Somehow the conversation turned to church and faith.  My friend knew that I was a Christian, and she asked me, rather loudly: “But what about Jesus?”  Would you tell me that if I don’t believe in Jesus, I’m going to hell?”

A young Russian man once asked my father the same question. Having been raised in a home in the former Soviet Union where God was never discussed, he had heard of Jesus but didn’t know what He had to do with Christianity.  The Apostle Paul spoke clearly about Jesus: “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures…he was buried …he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). When the Russian young man asked, “Do I have to believe in Jesus to be a Christian?” he got the same answer that I gave to my friend.

I said, “Jesus’ own words were, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father except through Me'” (John 14:6). Yes, the Bible boldly declares:
“There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). The Name that changes everything is Jesus. It’s the Name that saves, frees and heals.  Will you call on the Name of Jesus today?
