The God Who Comes To Meet You
So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God. Romans 5:11
There once was a farmer who told his son to be home at a certain hour but one Saturday night the son failed to come home. At midnight the father got out of bed and turned the lock on the front door. He was still awake when he heard his son come home and try the door, without success.
Finally, the teen went around to the barn and crawled into the hay loft, but neither father nor son slept. Dad didn’t like what he had done but felt that he needed to keep the boundary. Suddenly, the barn door opened and climbing into the loft, the father said, “I told you, son, that you couldn’t sleep at home if you didn’t come home on time. I had to do it to keep my word, but there’s nothing to keep me from sleeping here in the barn with you.”
In a very real sense, that’s what caused Jesus to come! Man had ignored God’s direction, and sin separated man from God; but God through Jesus came to meet us at the point of our disobedience and bring us back into relationship with the Father.
The Bible explains, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). “We were reconciled to him through the death of his Son” (Romans 5:10). The God of the Bible comes to us right where we are, no matter what we’ve done, and offers us His loving forgiveness. He offers you a new beginning, this time, with Him.
Reconciliation describes how you can be brought into the family of God. God’s plan is for you to be reconciled to Him today!
