For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21

Think about this:  If our greatest need was money, perhaps God would have sent someone to teach business. If it was of utmost importance that we understand the workings of the universe, maybe Jesus would have taught astrophysics. And, if we lacked information, God could inspire more gospels.

Instead, God sent His son, Jesus, to rescue us from sin by demonstrating self-sacrificing love. The name Jesus means “God is salvation,” so the angel who visited Jesus’ earthly father Joseph instructed him, “…you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).

Sin isn’t just a name for the evil things we do, but a power we are under when we are separated from God. None of us escape it. As the Bible explains, “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). But God’s love existed before sin, and the power of love is greater than the power of sin. Salvation is our name for the love of God that rescues us from sin and brings us into communion with Him.

Salvation, because of God’s great love, gives us that harmony with God, and that’s the foundation of everything we need. God’s love, manifested through us, would alleviate so much of what goes wrong between people. Want to know more about this love?
