Jesus—One Cell
Speaker: Darlene Sala | Series: Encouraging Words
Stop for a moment—take a deep breath and mentally come with me. We’d better tiptoe.
See that manger? Look inside. What do you see? Nestled in the hay is a tiny newborn baby, wrapped tightly. He’s no ordinary baby. The very Son of God in human form! Who but God would come up with a plan to have a relationship with us that would begin with a baby!
This means Jesus was willing at that special moment of divine conception, to be reduced to one cell—the size of a pin point. The One of whom John wrote, “All things were made by him”! The designer of DNA! The architect of the universe! Yet all that indescribable creative power and genius become one cell in the body of Mary! This was the ultimate miniaturization. God in one cell! Yet it was all part of His plan. Jesus said of His Father, “a body you prepared for me” (Hebrews 10:5).
Because Jesus became one of us, He experienced what life is like here on earth. He understands our limitations and our frailties, our grief and our loneliness. Psalm 103 says, “For he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.”
Because His crib was a manger, none can say that they are too poor to approach Him. Ordinary people can visit mangers—shepherds and shopkeepers and farmers and street sweepers. We can all come with our worship and our requests. No wonder the angel said, “I bring you good news of great joy” (Luke 2:10).
But there’s more to the angel’s message. He goes on to say, “A Savior has been born to you.” Because Jesus came, we can bring our sins to Him and find forgiveness and freedom from guilt. For this little baby who lay in a manger one day was crucified on a cross to pay the price for all the wrongs we have ever done. He’s waiting for you to come to Him today.
