God’s Ocean of Love for You
Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us. Ephesians 1:4a
If you’ve never been to the ocean or it’s been a while, rest assured–its never-ending waves are still majestically crashing onto the beach.
The Bible says that nature speaks to us of God. The Psalms tell that the heavens declare His glory, the skies display His craftsmanship and that He is mightier than the breakers on the seashore (Psalm 19:1, 93:4). In those relentless, powerful waves, we’re reminded of His great love for us. Day and night, the waves return to shore just as God’s love endlessly pursues us. “Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us,” Scripture declares (Ephesians 1:4a).
Surfers will tell you that waves come in sets and there may be long times of quiet between the sets. They sit on their surfboards, resting, waiting, and ready, scanning the horizon in faith for the next set that’s coming. If they didn’t believe the best wave yet was to come, they’d paddle in and go home.
There may be times in our lives when we question God’s love for us. We don’t feel it. But the ocean of God’s love for you has not run dry; the waves have not stopped. Are you desperate for His love today? Listen to these words from the book of Romans: “Nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:38-39).
