God Does All the Work in This Classroom
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10
I don’t know if you liked school very much but God’s classroom is different—He does all the hard work there.
Yes, God has a classroom, said Elisabeth Elliot, and it’s the only place in which to learn: “1. The work of God. 2. The will of God. 3. The trustworthiness of God. 4. The presence of God. God’s classroom is where you are right now, Yes, right where God has you in life today is the “place appointed by God for [your] instruction.”[1]
And in this classroom, Jesus-follower, God is the one doing the hard work. But, you may say:
“I don’t see God doing anything!” or “That sounds a bit scary! What if He isn’t doing what I want Him to?” or “If He’s really working in me, I sure can’t see it!
Scripture says, “You do not know the work of God who makes everything” (Ecclesiastes 11:5). The Message paraphrase of Ephesians 2:7-10 says it well: “Now God has us where he wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish! …He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.”
You’re right where you need to be today. Will you say yes to the work He wants to do in you?
