To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together will all those who in every place call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours.  1 Corinthians 1:2

The refugees arrive exhausted and without any belongings. But Yuri and Nadia don’t hesitate to offer help to the broken men and women arriving in their community.

Their country declared war and forced millions to flee their homes in Ukraine. Some found their way into the Russian city where Yuri and Nadia live. Yuri and Nadia are followers of Jesus. When the refugees arrived, the couple knew at once what they would do, and God has miraculously guided them.

One man showed Yuri a note with a phone number that he had been given at the border, asking: “How can I call Yuri?” “This is my number and I am Yuri!” he told the refugee. The same story repeated with a woman. “Surprisingly,” Nadia says, “we found them faster than they could call us for help! We Christians pass on information and take care of unbelieving people. We are part of “an invisible chain of God’s children that links the whole world.”

Like Yuri and Nadia, if you follow Jesus, you’ve been born into a global family that the Bible says are, “Called to be saints together will all those who in every place call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 1:2).

Families often have reputations, and, in His book, God outlined the things He wants His family to be known for: “Free those who are wrongly imprisoned; lighten the burden of those who work for you. Let the oppressed go free and remove the chains that blind people. Share your food with the hungry and give shelter to the homeless.  Give clothes to those who need them…” (Isaiah 58:6-7).

Jesus followers, let’s act like family.
