So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. 2 Corinthians 3:18

When we look around in this world and want to know just exactly what God intended when he created people, we’re not going to find an answer.  What we were, at creation, ended through disobedience, through our desire to be equal to God.  The Bible says that “When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned” (Romans 5:12).

When we look at people, we see greed.  We see hatred.  It’s clear that we’re slaves to our own desires.  This isn’t the way God intended us to live. So, God reached down to make a work of restoration possible in our lives, through Jesus. “And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image,” says the Bible book of 2 Corinthians (3:18).

We all need this work of restoration—but it is a restoration of the you that God purposely designed. “I’m always going to be me.” explained Pastor Chuck Smith.  “But I will be conformed again by the Spirit of God into the image of Jesus Christ, where love will once again dominate.”[1]

You will always be you, but the you God intended you to be.  “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb,” God declares (Jeremiah 1:4).  What a creative and wonderful God, who wants each of us, restored to His original and unique design.
