As You Think, So You Are
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. Proverbs 23:7a NKJV
Ever stopped to think about where your thoughts are taking you? If you’re not controlling them, they’re controlling you.
It may be time for a thought audit. This involves going through your normal day and quickly recording the thoughts on your mind. You may be surprised at what you’re thinking, and the lies that you’re believing. Craig Groeschel points out two truths that the Apostle Paul knew: “1. The battle for your life is lost or won in your mind. 2. Your thoughts will control you, so you have to control your thoughts”[1] (2 Corinthians 10:5).
The Proverbs tell that, as a man thinks in his heart, so he is (Proverbs 23:7a). Although he didn’t have the degree or experience of most CEOs, Matt unexpectedly took over a business from his father. The lie that roamed around in his head went something like this: “You’re an imposter. You got this job because you’re the founder’s son—you don’t have the training or experience for the job, and everyone knows it.”
Matt realized he was in a war that needed to be fought with scripture. Matt remembered that Peter was a simple fisherman, but Jesus tapped him to lead His church. Jesus’s words to Peter were simple: ” “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19). When following Jesus, He makes us what He needs us to be, Matt realized.
What lies are holding you hostage? Search the Scriptures today to find God’s truth you need to replace the lies that have become a part of you.
