And as your days, so shall your strength be.  Deuteronomy 33:25

My grandma Sala had some great little sayings that often come to my mind.  One was “Don’t borrow trouble.”  Much like the phrase, one day at a time, Grandma would remind herself (and me) that nothing is accomplished by careening into tomorrow and beyond, in my head.  Grandma believed Jesus when He said, “Don’t worry about tomorrow…for each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34).

But it’s one thing to say, “take it one day at a time,” and entirely another, to live it out.  If you’re a Jesus follower, here’s the good news.  Jesus is already in your tomorrows.  All of them.  Listen to the words of poet, Annie Johnson Flint:

One day at a time, and the day is His day; He hath numbered its hours, though    they haste or delay.  His grace is sufficient; we walk not alone; as the day, so the      strength that he giveth His own.”[1]

Yes, God promises us, that our strength will match the number of our days! (Deuteronomy 33:25). Maybe you’re just starting out in life and worry that you’ll never get established in your career.  Or maybe you’re staring down a later season of life with a body that’s breaking down.  When we choose to stay in today, we are believing what God says.  We are living out Proverbs 3:5 by trusting God with all our hearts and not trying to figure things out with our own, severely limited understanding.

Jesus will meet you in your tomorrows with all that you need.
