God’s Whole Love Is For You

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:10

A.W. Tozer wrote, “An infinite God can give all of Himself to each of His children. He does not distribute Himself that each may have a part, but to each one He gives all of Himself as fully as if there were no others.”  Do you believe God loves you personally?

God doesn’t love you best when you are good. God’s love is never-changing; it is as strong for you in your darkest transgression as it is when you are praising God. We know this in part, because of the love Jesus showed to people who society shunned. Jesus said He came specifically to rescue those who are broken (Mark 2:15-17).

If you’re feeling lost or ashamed because of your brokenness, you are deeply and singularly loved by God at this very moment. If you’re used to weighing your good deeds against the bad, it will take time to learn that God in His grace, doesn’t. Accepting grace means that you stop making yourself the judge of your own worth. Instead, embrace Jesus’ view that you are of infinite worth. You, personally, are so loved that Jesus rose from the dead to see you freed.

Your response doesn’t require perfection, but love.  We love Jesus in return. Your past and future sins don’t change the quality or intensity of God’s love for you. Show your love for Jesus by accepting His love!  If you love Him, follow Him.
