The Only Way To Get Along With Others In Tough Times

But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.  Ephesians 4:7

Have you noticed that during crises, relationships feel more tense or difficult? In difficult circumstances, it is imperative to focus on conflict resolution through grace. Ephesians 4:2 reminds us to “make allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.” Making allowance means to create space or plan ahead. In other words, expect conflict during crises and respond knowing that arguments are often situationally heightened rather than personal attacks.

We must make particular allowance for those in our life who have not experienced the grace of God because they have no blueprint for the most meaningful form of conflict resolution. Many Christians do not fully understand grace. Only through an attitude of continual grace can we experience the joy and freedom of releasing others from unrealistic expectations. When we fail to show grace, we step outside the realm of God’s kingdom and [misplace] our hope and security. [1]

The Bible says, “But to each one of us grace has been given,” (Ephesians 4:7). If you are a follower of Jesus, this means that you have the means, the power of the Holy Spirit within you, to resolve conflict with others.  We are called to give the very grace we have received. Are you in a heated conflict that’s a bit hotter due to exasperating circumstances of the day?  Step back and breathe a prayer for God to extend His grace, through you, to the other person.
