Does God Speak To Us?

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. John 16:13

It was just a normal day until she got to the well, around noon.  That’s when she met a man who looked right into her very depths.  Rushing back into her village, she exclaimed, “Come see a man who told me everything I ever did!” And, they came streaming to see for themselves.

The story, found in the Bible book of John, continues: “When they came to see Him, they begged him to stay in their village.  So he stayed for two days, long enough for many more to hear his message and believe.” (John 4:40-41) “Now we believe,” they said, “not just because of what you told us, but because we have heard him ourselves.  Now we know that he is indeed the Savior of the world.” (John 4:42)

Have you heard about Jesus from someone else? That’s a good thing.  But here’s the news:  just like the villagers, you must come to a place of knowing him, for yourself.  Jesus still speaks to individuals today through the Bible, and through the person of the Holy Spirit.  “We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true,” I John 5:20 explains.

If you haven’t “heard him for yourself,” open a Bible today and listen.  You too will be able to say, now I know Him for myself.
