God knows our individual struggles. He “knit us together in our mother’s womb,” knows the numbers of hairs on our heads and knows what we are thinking from afar (Luke 12:7, Psalm. 139). He knows our anxieties, our perceived inadequacies, and every wound. He gives us grace for each circumstance.

The Bible says that we are created from dust (Psalm 103:14) and deeply fallible, but not beyond the reach of grace. Even Bible heroes like the warrior, Gideon, needed support. God told Gideon he was going to win a battle, but Gideon was hesitant. Instead of scoffing at Gideon’s fear, God gave him the opportunity to overhear his enemies interpreting a dream.  In their dream, Gideon defeated a host of soldiers with only 300 men (Judges 7). Gideon was emboldened and victorious with God’s very personalized help.

God knew Gideon and his specific worries and crafted a plan to accommodate him. He gave Gideon grace – unmerited favor – despite Gideon’s distrust. God gives us specific grace too because he knows us personally. You may start to recognize His tailoring in your life as you reflect on your own fears. God reminded the Apostle Paul, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” With grace, Paul wrote, “So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
