He Wants The Very Best For You!

Speaker: Darlene Sala | Series: Encouraging Words | A young woman in her twenties commented to me that she really has no choice but to obey God, because when she doesn’t obey Him, she is the loser. Actually, she’s right.  At a young age she had figured out the very important principle that God’s will, as difficult as it may be, is always the best for us.

God longs to bring good into our lives. In the Old Testament book of Isaiah we read,

This is what the Lord says–
your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:
“I am the Lord your God,
who teaches you what is best for you,
who directs you in the way you should go.
If only you had paid attention to my commands,
your peace would have been like a river,
your righteousness like the waves of the sea. (Isaiah 48:17-18)

“If only…” God says. If only you had waited a little longer before marrying that guy who doesn’t share your faith…. If only you had pursued God’s will for your life during your teen years when you still had a chance to choose the direction your life would go… If only you had shown more patience and tenderness toward your kids while they were still living at home…. Then, says God, “your peace would have been like a river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea.”

Well, we can’t go back and unscramble scrambled eggs. What’s done is done. But you can make a decision that will have a tremendous effect on your future.  You can determine that, with His help, from this point on you will obey God. You will choose to do His will. Each time you have a decision to make, you will look to Him for guidance.

Remember that He is the Lord your God, who “teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go” (verse 17). He wants the very best for you. Obey Him and find peace.
