What We Need In Times Like These

Speaker:

Speaker: Darlene Sala | Series: Encouraging Words | I recently heard an old hymn that, to tell the truth, I had forgotten. It may be an old one, but it is certainly fitting to our present culture and the circumstances you and I find ourselves in.  The lyrics go like this:

In times like these you need a Savior,
In times like these you need an anchor;
Be very sure, be very sure,
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

This Rock is Jesus, Yes, He’s the One,
This Rock is Jesus, the only One;
Be very sure, be very sure,
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock![1]

If there was ever a time we needed the truth of those words, it is now. Living in a world of pandemic and economic crisis, we need an anchor to hold us firm and safe. Is your life anchored to the rock of Jesus Christ? Are you trusting Him to help you through the tough circumstances? Or is your anchor dragging through the drifting sand.

Isaiah 41:10 NLT is one of my favorite Bible verses to anchor to in hard times. God says, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” I love that promise!

Another one is Hebrews 6:18-19: “We who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls.”

In times like these, we surely need Jesus, a Savior, an anchor and a hope. Don’t wait another day to call out to Him. Unlike the sands of circumstances, He is a solid rock that will keep you anchored and not let you drift in the storm of life.
