Are You Sure You’re Going To Heaven?

Speaker: Darlene Sala | Series: Encouraging Words | I wouldn’t want you to read or listen to Encouraging Words and not know how to be sure you’re going to heaven when you die. It’s just too important a matter not to know for sure. Your eternal future depends on whether you have a personal relationship with Jesus, because that relationship determines where you will spend eternity.  So, this devotional is dedicated entirely to just that one thought: do you know for sure that you have a personal relationship with Jesus?

One of my favorite sections of the Bible that tells us how to be sure we’re saved and will spend eternity with Jesus is Romans 10:9. This verse says “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (NKJV). Just two steps: first, confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and then, second, believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. Just two simple steps that will make the difference where you spend eternity.

Have you done those two things—confessed and believed? You see, Jesus came to this earth and died on the cross to pay for our sins so that we could be forgiven and have a relationship with Him. He wants us first to confess–that is, acknowledge what He did for us and declare Him Lord of our lives. Step two, He wants us to believe He did not remain dead after His crucifixion but rose from the dead three days later, based on solid historical evidence.

The next verse goes on to reassure us: “For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (NKJV). Want to be sure you’re headed for heaven? When it comes to Jesus, what your mouth says and what your heart believes is all important. Settle it today!
