Radio Reaches Soldiers in Remote Mountains

In the age of widespread internet access, radio still has the power to reach those who don’t have it. Our Christian devotionals are broadcast through radio all over the world, and reach all walks of life, including soldiers.

One of our listeners is in the Turkish military, stationed in the mountains outside of Samsun in northern Turkey. While in the military, soldiers aren’t allowed to have smart phones, have access to the internet, or watch TV. The only connection they have are old outdated cell phones.

But it just happens that some of those cell phones can pick up radio signals.

Our broadcast partner, Radio Shema, airs Guidelines devotionals from the Samsun in Turkey, and our Turkish soldier was able to pick up those airwaves.

Here’s what he said to us:

“To have Radio Shema in a place that has no Bible, where there are no other believers, and no TV is a huge blessing.  I sometimes have a chance to share with fellow soldiers about my faith and then tell them about Radio Shema.  I have no Bible to give them, nor would I be allowed to give them a Bible.  But at least I can tell them there is a Christian radio station that they can listen to.

In remote mountains of Turkey where there is no connection to the outside world and no Christian influence, Guidelines devotions are able to deliver the voice of God to a group of soldiers.

This is the power of radio.

You can help reach those who are out of reach. Donate to help us reach more people with the love of Jesus through radio.
